SHELL WATCH:
Shell accounts are provided on most Unix style systems. Shell accounts
allow the user to directly TELNET or FTP into their account. Many shell
accounts also offer C compilers and have other useful UNIX utilities
readily available. The following is a list of providers offering FREE
shell accounts.
We will add
to this list as we learn of other providers providing free shell access.
Many of these providers are offering a community service and accept
donations of hardware or software. Keep in mind that some of these providers
go down on occasion. We try to update this list frequently, but providers
are subject to change.
Cyberunners.org
provide free shells with: Eggdrop, Tcl , BitchX, Irssi, Ipv6,

. Atshell has been running for about 4 years now but has only been
advertising for about 9 months. Atshell features a Sun Sparc system.
All signups are verified for authenticity and then the accounts
are added. Generally an average signup will be completed within
10 min but can take up to 24 hours. Offers Unix Shell accounts,
which include web space, email, webmail, irc chat, and community
chat.

more power/linux you may request a shell account on their slackware
linux box but these are only for good reasons.
They will create shells for people just trying to learn unix but
can not offer technical support (other than system problems of course)

PAUS Public Access UNIX
System: Free system started in 1999 by a linux guru that sought
the need for an very inexpensive shell for an experienced unix user,
or a unix begininer. This system has 3 levels of operation:
1- Free, can do anything on the shell, host a webpage, 20mb quota,
not having th e ability to use the internet programs
2- $5 Lifetime ARPA Membership, upgraded account from free with 70mb
quota, and having the ability to use internet resources
3- $10 Monthy Donation, Same as #2, but increased disk quota for more

Ductape
is a public access UNIX system which offers shell accounts, IMAP Email,
and a few other services. Recently moved to Dalweb. Please check for
policy changes.

Offers free Linux Shell accounts, webspace (5MB) and POP3 email.
Has help forms and lots of resources for users new to the Linux
community.
